Venere di Botticelli

things i saw this morning:

1) a street full of people help a lady causing a traffic jam to get her long car to turn down a narrow street, guiding and directing, arms flailing. a team effort.
2) an old man who has painted everything in his house. painted windows on walls where there were none, a grand door on the back of his regular door, a beautiful rocking horse, a violin hanging on the wall, paintings of the city, etc etc.
3) l'orto (vegetable garden) di Roberto. he has summer lettuce and winter lettuce, tomatoes, tons and tons of olive trees, apple trees, and he picked at least 5 figs, opened them and handed them all to me and said "mangia!" i've never had figs before. they were delicious.

They call tape "lo scotch," they let people with fewer items at the grocery store go ahead, they help and solve problems together, they are always so happy to see people they know. Roberto honks and yells at everything ont he street or in their shops to say "Signora! Ciao!" or "Marcino, come va?"
I admire them.
