i'm a lot more outgoing and sociable living completely on my own. it's definitely a good thing. i've made several italian friends already. after church the missionaries introduced me to this guy, Carlo. he's not interested in the church, i don't think, but he comes to the english class the anziani teach every wednesday. so we started talking in italian, exchanged numbers, and the next day i called him when i got off work. he picked me up (finally, someone with a car!) and we went for food, drove around and talked, he practiced his english and i my italian. we would correct each other. i was so comfortable speaking with him, i think it was the best italian practice ever. so he drove to this castle that is really close to my house in the country and we walked around the walls. the view was beautiful and it had teeny tiny shops and restaurants inside and a little museum. yeah, that's just what i do on my afternoons off. when i have spare time i just hang out with Carlo on castle tops. no big deal.
