in siena there are signs that signal "wrong way" on one way roads in the wrong direction. buses are allowed, however, on the shoulders sort of. i got really scared when the bus went full throttle on a one way road. i finally saw the sign that says "except for busses." also italians drive so much faster and what apparently is safer because i have yet to see an accident. even in rome. everyone drives so incredibly close to one another and everything is always fine. americans would be freaking out and honking, but italians are so chill. they drive three cars wide in two lanes and fast and swervy and everybody's fine. trust me. and the cab drivers. it's like a rollercoaster! oh! and my bus from the gorgeous country side into the city is fabulous! we go around curves and dirt and into peoples back yards! no joke! we almost run over their dog that's chained up to the house. he had to get out to fix the mirror that had been pressed against the bus after driving through the trees in the yard. it's been three days and i still laugh a lot when he does it. apparently that's normal. taking short cuts through peoples yards.
