This morning we went to the closest open bakery and purchased quiche lorrain and pain au chocolat for breakfast. After that we took a train to Versailles and spent the entire afternoon in a royal palace, walking in bedchambers and looking at the incredible architecture...I am such a sucker for elaborate gilding. Todd will build me a Rococo house when we are bajillionaires. It doesn't need to be a mansion, just high ceilings and like two wings. The Grand Canal was HUGE!!!! I mean, our feet hurt by halfway down the canal. It's pretty incredible to have been in the very same place as Marie Antoinette after having spent a semester learning about her. We had a pinic in the gardens and watched the passersby and listened to the fitting Baroque music they were playing.
(Emma Hosskison was waiting there for us all day due to lack of internet and therefore lack of good communication. Depressing and I don't want to talk about it.)
After we headed back to Paris and met up with Rubi and Stanton Jones. They took us out to Le P'tit Grec which was this tiny and amazing creperie. They were huge and thick crepes which were filled with egg, ham, cheese, potato, onion, lettuce and tomato. The dessert crepes were nutella and banana and boy, were they a melty piece of heaven. Seriously. And cheap and huge and filling.
Rubi and Stanton are so funny and easy to talk to. It's been a very pleasant day, indeed.
