October 20

Today was Sunday, so we woke up early and went to church at Rome 2, where Todd used to serve. The stake had been reorganized, so he did not know hardly anyone, but sacrament meeting in Italian was still really nice. Jonathan came and we sat next to him.

After church, we found pizza by the slice and ate upstairs by ourselves because it had barely opened. After pizza, we ran to catch a bus to the St Teresa church, and made it there twelve minutes before they closed for mass. The Teresa sculpture is amazing! Bernini is my fave. There weren't many people there, so we felt like we could just stand there and admire without worrying about being in someone's way. Afterwards, we saw the basilica  that Michelangelo did, Santa Maria dei Martiri or something, then went to St John's Basilica. The Michelangelo one had a huge organ, and a ton of sculptures of John the baptist, including a huge severed head in marble. St John's basilica was incredible, with really large and beautiful statues of the apostles that were illuminated by natural light from windows way up high by the ceiling. The mass was going on, so we could hear the sermon.

We went home afterwards for a much needed siesta, slept for an hour, then went shopping for Christmas presents. When the shops closed, we walked to the pantheon/Piazza Navona, paid way too much for a tatufo, and then walked along the river to catch a bus and get bombiloni at Dolce Maniera, our fave place. That's it.
