excerpt from my journal:
Questo giorno è il 6 di ottobre! It's going by super fast. Today I ate dinner with Rita, Stephano (her son), Luda (Stephano's girlpal), and Gennia (Luda's son). It was the first time and I quite enjoyed it. After, Rita and I washed the dishes and watched...sort of an Italian talk show meets news meets game show. And I painted my nails. And learned the word for 'to paint nails' in Italian.
For work today Veronica, in Mauro Civai's office, took me along with her. We went to some archives, like real, old, original letters, orders, correspondance. We had to find document 40 from August 1815. So cool. It had information about the first time the wolves (the Siena she wolf) had been in need of restoring. The originals are still at the Palazzo Pubblico, but they're inside instead of on the corners on the outside of the building. The ones on the outside are copies. The originals are from the 14th century (if i understood Veronica correctly) and they were made hollow so water could run through the testa e bocca. So we found in the archives the documents, made photocopies, and she had me type up everything the pages said. It's difficult enough to read old old cursive, and then it was in Italian, but I did my best and she would correct me where needed.
