Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend has been the best.

Friday I had a visit and Starbucks with Candace. I cleaned my apartment and played with my baby. Chase and Annie came in time for dinner that night and we ended up just talking and laughing and looking at photos of their Disneyland trip.

Saturday, while Todd worked like a boss, my parents, Chase, Annie, Reggie and I went to the parade, had a tailgate lunch, and rode bikes from my house to Grand Teton National Park. It was such a gorgeous day. My parents are amazing, by the way. They bought Todd and I brand new bicycles for our first Mother's and Father's Day(s) and made family biking possible since I sold our old beach cruisers in a garage sale last weekend. We had had them since Todd proposed more than five years ago.

After our bike ride and Todd was off work we had a pool party downstairs. The apartment we live in is in a hotel, so we use the gym, pool and hot tub. It was really fun. Chase's cannonball splash actually soaked the ceiling and baby girl, who was sitting in her car seat. After showers, Dad made us eggs benedict for dinner, we stocked up on candy, and we went to X-Men: Days of Future Past. Regina nursed during the previews, was entranced most of the movie, and then fell asleep in my arms. She didn't cry once, but she did get excited/talky. She's the best little girl I've ever met.

After church Sunday (today), Todd and I hitched Reggie up to my bike and we rode to my parents' house. We played bocce, ate an amazing Sunday lunch (roast, yorkshire pudding, gravy, potatoes, carrots) in the backyard, after which I had a nap and have no idea what anyone else did. Mom and Annie took care of the baby so I could sleep peacefully. In the evening we played baseball. We did this same thing last year around the same time. I remember leg-wrestling Riley and being pregnant and lazy last year. This year we have this tiny beautiful baby who loves to watch us run around and be outside. While in the dugout rocking girlfriend to sleep, I was thinking about how wonderful it is to be a family. Also, it is such a wonderful thing to add members to the family who fit in so perfectly and complement the others. Annie definitely does that. She and Chase are great together and she just fits so easily and wonderfully. To end our perfect day while in a baseball mood, we watched the Sandlot. I didn't realize I could quote the entire thing.

I just really love my family. And this weekend. And it's not even over.

I love you so much Hillary! Chase and I went through listing which character we are from Sandlot. We decided you'd be Squints. :) "You got it, pull it up!" :)
