As a newborn, Regina was sleepy. When hungry she would make smacking noises and motions with her mouth, but she didn't really cry. When she was awake she was alert, would look right at you, and was really entranced by lights.
At four weeks she started smiling responsively rather than just her sleepy reflex smiles.
At five weeks she (finally) learned to nurse properly. That was a process!
At seven weeks she began going eight hours after her night time feeding allowing me to sleep for seven hours if I got to bed right away. What a champion. She also graduated from her newborn clothes to her 0-3 month clothes.
Between six and eight weeks she started to laugh and hold her head up. She can see at quite a distance now.
She is calm, sweet, and will smile and try to talk back if you talk to her. It's pretty incredible that she can make eye contact, recognize other people, recognize when they are smiling and talking and then try to imitate them. I was singing to her and noticed she made long cooing noises every time. If someone else had told me their two month old baby was singing I would think that they were kidding themselves, but because I am with Reggie each day I know what noises she makes and I know that she is usually quiet except when being spoken to, directly.
Seeing the world and our bodies and language is so amazing now that I see these things through her eyes.
